Umbrella Update: Meet the Sa™

It’s tough to improve upon a product that has existed relatively unchanged for thousands of years, but that’s just what these inventors have done with their redesigned umbrella, the Sa™. “Sa” comes from the Japanese word for rain, and its folding design is inspired by origami. Made entirely of recyclable plastic, the Sa™ is not only more durable and built to last longer than a typical umbrella, it’s also more sustainable.  The Sa™ will be available in six colors, and its designers hope to eventually release a more compact version in addition to the full size original. For now the Sa™ is for sale exclusively through their Kickstarter page.
