Archives For Househappy

Home sales in Househappy’s hometown of Portland have remained steady over the past few years, even as they lagged elsewhere. Northeast Portland is a particularly hot market, and droves of people are moving from other parts of town (and even other parts of the country) just to live there.

This English-style house on Househappy is a prime example of what people love about living in NE Portland. The house itself has gorgeous period details but has been updated with modern conveniences, and is located on a charming street near the Beaumont neighborhood’s trendy shops and restaurants, as well as great schools. 2014 has been a big year for brass in home decor, though it’s by no means a new concept. Once a norm in houses around the world, at some point brass just fell out of favor. Some homeowners became so disdainful of it that they would go so far as to paint over brass light fixtures and nobs. But brass is back in a big way (although we are not talking about the ultra-shiny brass of the 80s), and the trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. The brass of today is all about creating a warm and timeless look, but with a fresh modern twist.

Design*Sponge believes brass’ appeal may be due in part to the fact that it looks good at any level of wear. Brand new is beautiful, but many years in it develops a gorgeous surface patina of wear that many prefer to its original shine. We think it’s safe to say that the brass revival is more than a fad at this point.

In hopes of inspiring you to experiment with using brass in your own home, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite brass products and uses in decor below. See what you think! Would you install brass in your own home?

For the last 18 years, Real Estate Connect has been one of the leading real estate technology events in the industry. The semi-annual event is produced by Inman News, alternating between New York and San Francisco, and is an opportunity for industry leaders to network, discover the latest technologies, and look to what’s ahead for real estate.

Househappy is excited to announce that, not only will we be attending January’s Real Estate Connect 2014 at the Grand Hyatt New York, but we will be participating as a Start Up-Alley exhibitor––an opportunity open only to “young, cutting-edge companies.”

“Start-Up Alley companies are creating new solutions to address some of the real estate industry’s biggest challenges,” said David Stein, president and general manager of Inman News. “Real Estate Connect gives these innovators the unique opportunity to showcase their products to thousands of industry leaders.”

Last year’s San Francisco event boasted the largest attendance in 10 years, and we look forward to the opportunity to introduce Househappy in such a large forum filled with some of real estate’s leading thinkers and innovators. If you are planning to attend RE Connect, we encourage you to come by the Househappy booth (exhibit #S20) during AgentReboot on January 14th or Start-Up Alley from January 15th-17th to say “hello” to the Househappy team including:

  • Kevin McCloskey, CEO/founder
  • Robyn Woodman, Business Development
  • Justin Boucher, Operations

We will also be attending the Property Portal Watch event January 13th-14th at the same location.

If you will be in New York City in January, we’d love to connect with you beforehand––introduce yourself in the comments below, find us on Facebook, or tweet us @Househappyinc.

Looking forward to seeing you all next month!
